Why does my laptop screen start up sideways?

I have a dell net book and i accidentally pushed a button chasing after my 1 year old. Now my screen starts up sideways. The only way to fix it is to push F1 a couple times a projector option pops up and it goes back to normal. How do I keep my screen from starting sideways permanently? how do i get the screen back to normal?
