Why do males, in other primates too, usually control the sex?

Is there a physical reason for this? Because it seems to happen cross culturally in MOST positions that men control the sex. Of course most cultures also use positions where women control the sex, but they seem to be far less numerous, and animals like monkeys, orangutans, etc. also seem to have it that males control the sex. Why is this?
