Do those who don't believe in a Grand Creator ever wonder why and how it is life forms are so finely balanced?

If its really a matter of survival of the fittest, and that's the reason why mankind has survived, why do we still have dependants like: pandas, tigers, minke whales, blue whales, orangutans, rhinos and mountain gorillas?
