I want to learn more about animals to help in future careers.?

ok so im 15 years of age and love animals. i want to pursue a career in caring for them especially wild animals like orangutans. is there anything i should be doing to help learn about them? i have seen the work of a woman called lona neilson (sp?) in borneo. she helps baby orangutans and runs a center that looks after them. is there anything like that in the UK?
